1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 large egg
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, divided
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • In a bowl, cream butter and brown sugar. Add egg, milk and vanilla; mix well. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture. Stir in 1/2 cup chocolate chips and walnuts. CHOCOLATE CHIP BARS OR SHADOW BARS
1 c butter or margarine
3/4 c ganulated sugar
3/4 c brown sugar
3 large egg yolks
1 Tbsp water
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
2 c all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 c chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • 1. Cream butter, sugars, egg yolks, water, vanilla together. Then add flour, baking powder, & soda mixture. Blend well. Spread in a greased 9x13 pan. Press down even, then press in 1 package (12 ounce) of chocolate chips. Top with: 3 egg whites beaten until stiff. Add 1/2 cups brown sugar, gradually & 1/2 cups white sugar. Spread over chocolate chips. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 pinch salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
¾ cup chopped pecans

1 1/2 cups firmly packed dark brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour (see Cook¿s Note)

1 teaspoon fine salt
One 12-ounce bag (a scant 2 cups) semisweet chocolate chips
