Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 c sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 c butter, softened
1/2 c vegetable shortening
1/2 c brown sugar, lightly packed
1/2 c granulated sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 c walnuts
6 oz package semisweet chocolate chips
granulated sugar (for rolling)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350* and lightly grease cookie sheets.
  • 2. Combine flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt in small bowl.
  • 3. Beat butter, shortening, and sugars in large bowl until blended. Add egg; beat well; add vanilla. Add flour mixture; blend well.
  • 4. Stir in walnuts and chocolate pieces. Roll dough into walnut-size balls; roll in granulated sugar. Place about 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheets.
  • 5. Bake in preheated 350* oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until firm to touch. Cool on wire racks.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh butter, good quality chocolate chips, and pure vanilla extract will make a big difference in the flavor of your cookies.
  • Don't overmix the dough: Overmixing can make the cookies tough. Mix the dough just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Chill the dough: Chilling the dough makes it easier to handle and helps the cookies hold their shape in the oven.
  • Bake the cookies at the right temperature: The ideal temperature for baking chocolate chip cookies is 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
  • Don't overbake the cookies: Overbaked cookies will be dry and crumbly. Bake the cookies just until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set.
  • Let the cookies cool completely: Cooling the cookies allows them to set and develop their full flavor.

Conclusion:

Chocolate chip angel cookies are a delicious and easy-to-make holiday treat. With their crisp edges, chewy centers, and loads of chocolate chips, these cookies are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them. These cookies are also very versatile.
