CHINESE STYLE BROCCOLI WITH MUSHROOMS RECIPE - (4.6/5)

Chinese Style Broccoli with Mushrooms Recipe - (4.6/5) image

Number Of Ingredients 0

Steps:

  • 1. Boil a large pot of water, and blanch broccoli for half a minute. Drain and set aside. 2. Heat oil in a wok, and sauté garlic, onion and ginger until fragrant. Add carrots, mushrooms and 2-3 tbsp water. Cook for two minutes, stirring frequently. 3. When the vegetables are softened, add the broccoli, seasoning, a bit more water, and cook for another two minutes (keep stirring). Add the diluted cornstarch and mix well. Boil the sauce for a minute, until it thickens. 4. Taste and adjust seasonings, if necessary. Enjoy! Optional for serving: Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.

Tips:

  • Use fresh broccoli: Fresh broccoli has a vibrant green color and crisp texture. Avoid broccoli that is wilted or has yellow or brown spots.
  • Cut the broccoli into uniform florets: This will help them cook evenly. You can cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets or larger pieces, depending on your preference.
  • Blanch the broccoli before stir-frying: Blanching helps to preserve the broccoli's color and nutrients. To blanch the broccoli, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and cook for 1-2 minutes, or until they are bright green and tender. Immediately transfer the broccoli to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
  • Use a hot wok: A hot wok will help to create a nice sear on the broccoli and prevent it from becoming soggy.
  • Use a flavorful sauce: The sauce is what will give the broccoli its flavor. You can use a variety of sauces, such as oyster sauce, soy sauce, or hoisin sauce.
  • Stir-fry the broccoli for a short time: Broccoli cooks quickly, so it is important to stir-fry it for only a short time. Overcooked broccoli will become mushy.
  • Serve the broccoli immediately: Stir-fried broccoli is best served hot and fresh. You can garnish it with sesame seeds, green onions, or chili peppers.

Conclusion:

Chinese-style broccoli is a delicious and healthy dish that can be easily made at home. By following these tips, you can make a stir-fried broccoli dish that is flavorful, nutritious, and visually appealing.
