Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
3 Tbsp Sweet Chili Sauce
1 tsp Sesame Oil
1 tsp Garlic, Minced (1 clove)
2 tsp Sesame Seeds (1 tsp for marinade, 1 tsp for garnish)
16 oz Chicken Breasts
1 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/4 cup Water
Fresh Cilantro for garnish (optional)

Steps:

  • In a storage bag or storage container, add the Chili Sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and 1 tsp of sesame seeds (leave some for garnish). Mix together, then add the raw chicken breasts.
  • You can marinade the chicken in the sauce for 1 hour up to 8 hours.
  • Preheat a skillet on high and add Olive Oil. Remove the marinated chicken breasts from the marinade using tongs, saving the marinade to cook. Add the chicken breasts to the hot skillet. Sear for 2-3 minutes until the the chicken starts to char. Because of the sugar in the sauce, you need to be careful that the chicken doesn't burn. It's ok to get a little char as that will be lots of flavor.
  • Flip the Chicken and sear for another 2-3 minutes. Then add 1/4 cup water and the remaining marinade. Cover the skillet and cook for 8-10 minutes until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165 F degrees or the chicken feels firm with a little give.
  • Uncover, turn off the heat and move the skillet off the hot burner. Let rest for a few minutes. Then remove the chicken and slice it on a bias in 3/4 inch slices. This should give you about 5-6 slices.
  • Serve with rice or veggies, spoon some of the sauce on top or serve it on the side. Then garnish with sesame seeds and fresh cilantro leaves.

SESAME CHICKEN WITH CASHEWS AND DATES

Sesame Chicken With Cashews and Dates image

Dates add a touch of sweetness to this savory chicken and scallion stir-fry. If you don't have a wok or a 12-inch skillet, you might want to cook this in two batches in a smaller pan. That will ensure a nice, browned crust on the meat. And if you want to substitute chicken breasts, stir-fry them for only 2 minutes in Step 2 before adding the rice wine.

Time 20m

Yield 4 to 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 13

4 tablespoons toasted (Asian) sesame oil
1 2-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and cut into about 12 "coins"
6 to 8 garlic cloves, peeled and smashed
1 bunch scallions (white and green parts), cut into 2-inch lengths
3 to 4 dried red chiles, or 1/2 teaspoon chile flakes
2 pounds boneless chicken thighs (preferably skin on, but skinless is O.K.), cut into 2-inch chunks
1/2 cup toasted cashews
1/3 cup rice wine or dry sherry
3 tablespoons dark soy sauce or tamari
4 pitted dates, thinly sliced
3 cups fresh basil or cilantro leaves, or a combination
Rice vinegar or lime juice, to taste
Cooked rice, for serving

Steps:

  • Season the chicken with salt and pepper while you heat a 12-inch skillet or wok over high heat until it's very hot, at least 2 minutes. Add 2 tablespoons of the sesame oil and swirl the pan; the oil should thin on contact. When the oil is hot, add the ginger, garlic, scallions and chile. Stir-fry until the garlic is golden at the edges, 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Add the 2 remaining tablespoon oil, chicken and cashews, and stir fry until it starts to brown, 4 to 5 minutes (turn down the heat if the cashews are browning too quickly). Add the rice wine, soy sauce and dates; simmer until the sauce reduces to a syrupy consistency and the chicken cooks through, 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Stir in the herbs, sprinkle with rice vinegar or lime juice, and serve over rice.

BBQ CHICKEN WITH SESAME-CHILI SAUCE

BBQ Chicken with Sesame-Chili Sauce image

Fast and easy recipe for your grill. My family likes the sweet-hot flavors in this chicken. You can make the sesame-chili sauce up to 5 days ahead and store it in the refrigerator. I found this in a magazine, don't know which one cuz the clipping is very worn out.

Categories     Chicken

Time 1h

Yield 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 (8 1/2 ounce) jar plum sauce or 3/4 cup sweet and sour sauce
1/3 cup hoisin sauce
1/4 cup soy sauce
3 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons grated ginger
1 1/2 teaspoons Asian chili sauce (I use Srirachi)
1/2 teaspoon five-spice powder
2 frying chicken, quartered or cut into 8 pieces

Steps:

  • For sesame-chili sauce: in a small saucepan combine all of the ingredients except chicken; cook over medium heat until bubbly, stirring frequently; reduce heat; cover and simmer for 5 minutes and set aside.
  • Rinse chicken and pat dry; remove skin if desired.
  • Place chicken, bone side down, on an uncovered grill over medium coals (or gas grill set to medium); grill for 20 minutes; turn, grill 15-25 minutes more or till tender and no longer pink (cut to test).
  • Brush with sauce frequently during the last 10 minutes of grilling.
  • Transfer chicken to a serving platter; heat any remaining sauce and pass with chicken.

Tips:

  • Choose the right chicken. Boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs are ideal for this recipe. If you use chicken breasts, slice them into thin strips before cooking.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan. When cooking the chicken, make sure not to overcrowd the pan. This will prevent the chicken from cooking evenly and will make it more likely to stick to the pan.
  • Cook the chicken until it is golden brown. When cooking the chicken, cook it until it is golden brown on all sides. This will help to ensure that the chicken is cooked through.
  • Use a flavorful marinade. The marinade for this recipe is packed with flavor. Be sure to let the chicken marinate for at least 30 minutes before cooking, or up to overnight.
  • Serve with your favorite sides. This dish goes well with a variety of sides. Some popular options include rice, noodles, or vegetables.

Conclusion:

This Chile Basil Sesame Chicken is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. The chicken is tender and flavorful, and the sauce is packed with flavor. Serve this dish with your favorite sides for a complete meal that the whole family will enjoy.
