Tantalize your taste buds with a delectable fusion of Mexican and Chinese flavors in the form of Chicken Wonton Tacos, a culinary masterpiece that combines the crispy crunch of wonton shells with the savory goodness of chicken filling, all nestled within a soft taco embrace. Accompanying this main event are three tantalizing recipes: a refreshing Cucumber Salad with a tangy dressing, a flavorful Guacamole that bursts with avocado creaminess, and a zesty Salsa Roja that adds a vibrant kick.

Chicken Wonton Tacos: Crispy wonton shells serve as edible vessels for juicy, seasoned chicken filling, creating a delightful contrast of textures. Shredded cabbage, crunchy bell peppers, and a sprinkling of sesame seeds add layers of flavor and color, while a drizzle of tangy soy-ginger sauce brings it all together.

Cucumber Salad: Cool and crisp, this salad features thinly sliced cucumbers bathed in a zesty dressing of rice vinegar, sesame oil, soy sauce, and a hint of sweetness from honey. Fresh cilantro adds a pop of color and a touch of herbaceousness, making it the perfect side dish to balance the richness of the tacos.

Guacamole: Indulge in the creamy, luscious goodness of this avocado-based dip. Perfectly ripe avocados are mashed until smooth and blended with zesty lime juice, chopped cilantro, and a touch of minced garlic for a burst of savory flavor. Guacamole serves as an essential complement to the tacos, adding richness and depth to each bite.

Salsa Roja: Experience the vibrant heat of this classic Mexican salsa. Fresh tomatoes, roasted poblano peppers, and fiery serrano peppers are blended together to create a zesty, flavorful sauce that packs a punch. A touch of garlic, onion, and cilantro rounds out the flavors, making it the perfect condiment to add an extra layer of spiciness to the tacos.

CHICKEN WONTON TACOS

Light and tasty, these make a great appetizer or a quick and easy main dish! Kids love them! Finally a dish that makes use of ground chicken but not so far-fetched. I bake the wonton wrappers to save time and it eliminates most of the fat. Although time-consuming, you can fry wrappers in sesame or olive oil for the extra flaky shells, folded in a triangle for about 1 minute on each side. I loved the ones at Applebee's® and decided to attempt a home version. I was extremely pleased with the healthier version! Top tacos with cilantro, red onion, or sweet onion, if desired. Serve lime wedges on the side.

Tips:

  • To make the wonton wrappers, you can use a wonton wrapper maker or simply cut wonton wrappers into squares using a knife.
  • If you don't have wonton wrappers, you can substitute them with egg roll wrappers. However, egg roll wrappers are larger than wonton wrappers, so you will need to cut them into smaller squares.
  • To make the chicken filling, you can use any type of cooked chicken. Rotisserie chicken or leftover chicken from a previous meal works well.
  • Be sure to season the chicken filling well. You can add additional spices, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika, to taste.
  • When frying the wontons, be sure to use a non-stick pan or a pan with a little bit of oil to prevent them from sticking.
  • If you don't have a deep fryer, you can also pan-fry the wontons in a large skillet with a little bit of oil.
  • To make the dipping sauce, you can use any type of sweet and sour sauce. You can also make your own dipping sauce by combining soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, and sesame oil.
  • To assemble the tacos, simply place a fried wonton on a tortilla and top it with your favorite taco toppings, such as lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and sour cream.

Conclusion:

Chicken wonton tacos are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or main course. They are perfect for a party or a casual meal. With a few simple ingredients, you can create a dish that is both flavorful and satisfying. So next time you are looking for a new recipe to try, give chicken wonton tacos a try.
