Time 50m

Yield 16 taco triangles, 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 chicken breast halves
1/4 cup salsa
1/2 cup sour cream (divided)
1 (1 1/4 ounce) package taco seasoning
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
2 (8 ounce) packages refrigerated crescent dinner rolls

Steps:

  • Cook chicken breasts. Cool and dice into ½ inch pieces.
  • Combine chicken, taco seasoning, and cheese in a bowl and mix.
  • Microwave 2 min., until cheese melts.
  • Add salsa (½ of the sour cream may be added at this time) and mix well.
  • To assemble ring: Unroll the crescent rolls and separate into 16 triangles. Arrange triangles in a circle on a cookie sheet or pizza pan (I lightly spray with Pam) with the wide ends of triangles overlapping towards center of pan and points hanging over edge of pan. (There should be about a 7 - 10 inch opening in center of pan).
  • Scoop the meat mixture evenly onto the widest end of the triangles. Bring points up over the filling and tuck under wide ends of dough at center of ring. (Filling will not be completely covered)
  • Bake 20-25 minute @ 375 or until golden brown.
  • Serve with sour cream and/or salsa.

Tips:

  • Prepare the Ingredients in Advance: Before starting, make sure all the ingredients are measured, chopped, and ready to use. This will ensure a smooth and efficient cooking process.
  • Use Fresh Ingredients: Fresh ingredients, especially the chicken, vegetables, and herbs, will elevate the flavor of the dish. Opt for organic or locally-sourced produce whenever possible.
  • Don't Overcook the Chicken: Overcooked chicken becomes dry and tough. Cook the chicken until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) to ensure it stays tender and juicy.
  • Season Well: Don't be afraid to season the chicken and taco ring generously. Use a combination of spices, herbs, and salt to create a flavorful and well-balanced dish.
  • Shred the Chicken Properly: Use two forks to shred the chicken into small, bite-sized pieces. This will help the chicken distribute evenly throughout the taco ring.
  • Use a Variety of Toppings: Encourage your guests to customize their taco rings with a variety of toppings, such as shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, and cheese. This will add color, texture, and flavor to the dish.

Conclusion:

The chicken taco ring is a versatile and crowd-pleasing dish that combines the flavors of Mexican cuisine with the convenience of a casserole. With its crispy tortilla shell, savory chicken filling, and customizable toppings, it's perfect for potlucks, parties, or casual family dinners. Remember to use fresh ingredients, season well, and don't overcook the chicken to ensure the best possible results. Experiment with different toppings and fillings to create a taco ring that's uniquely yours. Enjoy this delicious and satisfying dish with your loved ones.
