SAUSAGE AND PEPPERS PASTA WITH BROCCOLI

Sausage and Peppers Pasta With Broccoli image

The classic Italian combination of sausage and peppers creates a satisfying and easy weeknight meal when combined with pasta. Broccoli is a fantastic nutritious addition that adds texture and cooks up quickly, or you can opt for broccolini or broccoli rabe if you want a more assertive vegetable. Sweet Italian pork sausage is used here, but there's no need to feel tied to the recipe: Substitute with spicy Italian sausage for extra heat, use chicken-apple sausage for a healthier take, or swap in fresh chorizo or breakfast sausage to turn this dinner into brunch.

Tips and Conclusion

Embark on a culinary journey with this delectable chicken rigatoni dish, where the succulent flavors of chicken, broccoli, peppers, and a creamy sauce come together in perfect harmony. This recipe offers a tantalizing blend of textures, colors, and flavors that will leave you craving for more.

1. Mise en Place: To ensure smooth cooking, prepare all your ingredients in advance. This includes dicing the chicken, chopping the broccoli and peppers, and measuring out the seasonings and sauce ingredients.

2. Choosing the Right Pasta: Rigatoni, with its large tubes and ridges, is a great choice for this dish as it can hold the creamy sauce and vegetables perfectly. However, you can also use any other short pasta shape like penne or fusilli.

3. Searing the Chicken: Searing the chicken before adding it to the sauce creates a golden-brown crust that locks in the flavor and adds depth to the dish. Make sure the chicken is patted dry before searing to achieve a nice crust.

4. Cooking the Vegetables: Broccoli and peppers bring a vibrant color and freshness to the dish. Cook them until they are tender yet still retain a slight crunch. Overcooking can make them mushy and lose their vibrant colors.

5. Making the Creamy Sauce: The creamy sauce is the heart of this dish. Use a combination of cream, milk, and Parmesan cheese to create a smooth, rich, and flavorful sauce that coats the pasta and vegetables perfectly.

6. Combining All the Elements: Once the chicken, vegetables, and sauce are ready, combine them in a large skillet or saucepan. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook gently for a few minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

7. Serving Suggestion: Serve the chicken rigatoni with broccoli and peppers immediately, garnished with freshly chopped parsley and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. This dish is a delightful main course that can be enjoyed for lunch or dinner.

In conclusion, this chicken rigatoni with broccoli and peppers is a delightful and satisfying dish that showcases the versatility of chicken and the vibrant flavors of fresh vegetables. With its creamy sauce, tender chicken, and colorful vegetables, this recipe is sure to become a family favorite. Enjoy the delightful symphony of flavors in every bite!
