Tips:
- Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh, high-quality ingredients will make a big difference in the flavor of your chicken cordon bleu. Look for boneless, skinless chicken breasts that are evenly thick, and use good-quality ham and cheese.
- Pound the chicken breasts evenly: This will help them cook evenly and prevent them from becoming tough. Use a meat mallet or rolling pin to pound the chicken breasts to a uniform thickness of about 1/4 inch.
- Season the chicken breasts well: Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and garlic powder before cooking. This will help to enhance their flavor.
- Use a good quality breadcrumb mixture: The breadcrumb mixture is what gives chicken cordon bleu its signature crispy coating. Use a mixture of panko breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, and chopped fresh herbs.
- Fry the chicken cordon bleu until golden brown: Fry the chicken cordon bleu in a pan with hot oil until the breadcrumbs are golden brown and the chicken is cooked through. This should take about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Serve the chicken cordon bleu immediately: Chicken cordon bleu is best served immediately after it is cooked. Serve it with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a green salad.
