Provided by Shannon2009

Number Of Ingredients 12

DRESSING:
8 cups finely diced cabbage, about 1 head
1/4 cup carrots, finely diced
2 tablespoons onions, minced
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 tablespoons white vinegar
2 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice

Steps:

  • Cabbage and carrots must be finely diced. Pour cabbage and carrot mixture into large bowl and stir in minced onions. Prepare the dressing, mix until smooth and creamy. Pour over Slaw and mix thoroughly. Cover bowl and refrigerate several hours or overnight before serving

Tips:

  • To save time, use a store-bought coleslaw mix. However, if you have the time, making your own coleslaw is easy and delicious.
  • Use a sharp knife or mandoline to thinly slice the cabbage and carrots. This will help them absorb the dressing better.
  • If you don't have any celery seeds on hand, you can substitute caraway seeds or dill seeds.
  • For a creamier coleslaw, add 1/2 cup of sour cream or mayonnaise to the dressing.
  • If you like a spicy coleslaw, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the dressing.
  • Serve the coleslaw immediately or chill it for at least 30 minutes before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld together.

Conclusion:

Chicken coleslaw is a delicious and refreshing salad that is perfect for summer picnics and potlucks. It is also a great way to use up leftover chicken. The coleslaw dressing is tangy and creamy, and the chicken adds a protein boost. This salad is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
