SOUTHERN CHERRY YUM YUM

My mother made this a lot when I was growing up. We lost the recipe for a while but found it when we were going through some old things of hers. I made it and it was just as good as I remembered. It is like a light, layered cherry cheesecake. Cooking time includes chill time. I am not sure of the exact ounces on a Dream whip packet, what the recipe calls for is 1 packet from the 2 packet box of Dream Whip.

So easy and taste so good it should be against the law!!!

Provided by Kathy Stewart

Categories     Pies

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 graham cracker pie crust
1 pkg (8 oz) cream cheese
1/3 c lemon juice
1 can(s) (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 can(s) cherry pie filling

Steps:

  • 1. Let cream cheese stand to room temperature. In a bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy, add sweetened condensed milk. Stir in lemon juice and vanilla, mixing well. Pour into pie crust and top with cherry filling. Chill for 3 hours. Makes 1 pie

Tips:

  • Use fresh cherries: Fresh cherries add a burst of flavor to the dish. If you can't find fresh cherries, you can use frozen cherries that have been thawed and drained.
  • Pit the cherries: Be sure to pit the cherries before using them. You can use a cherry pitter or a knife to remove the pits.
  • Use a variety of nuts: The recipe calls for walnuts, but you can use any type of nut that you like. Some other good options include almonds, pecans, or cashews.
  • Don't overcook the pasta: The pasta should be cooked al dente, or slightly firm to the bite. Overcooked pasta will become mushy and won't hold its shape well in the salad.
  • Chill the salad before serving: This will help the flavors to meld and will make the salad more refreshing.

Conclusion:

Cherry Yum Yum is a delicious and refreshing salad that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With its sweet and tangy dressing, crunchy nuts, and fresh cherries, this salad is sure to be a hit!
