I saw these on Facebook this evening and liked the recipe so much, I wanted to share it with all of you. From my own point of view, a teaspoon of salt as part of the bar ingredients sounds excessive. I think I would add no more than a half-teaspoon, but it's totally up to you.

INGREDIENTS FOR BARS
1 c butter, softened
2 c granulated sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp almond extract
3 c all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
2 can(s) cherry pie filling
INGREDIENTS FOR GLAZE
1 c powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
2 Tbsp milk

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • 2. With a hand-held mixer or the wire whisk of yoru stand mixer, cream the butter and sugar until smooth.
  • 3. Add the eggs and vanilla; beat well.
  • 4. Slowly add the flour and salt; mix well.
  • 5. Spread approximately three cups of the batter in a greased 9x13 pan (use a bigger pan if you wants the bars to be thinner).
  • 6. Spread the pie filling over the batter.
  • 7. Drop tablespoons of batter randomly over the pie filling.
  • 8. Bake for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, cream butter, sugar and salt until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in extracts. Gradually add flour., Spread 3 cups dough into a greased 15x10x1-in. baking pan. Spread with pie filling. Drop remaining dough by teaspoonfuls over filling. Bake 35-40 minutes or until golden brown.
