6 large egg whites
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
1-1/2 cups sugar
1 cup half-and-half cream
1/4 cup maraschino cherry juice
3 cups cake flour
2-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
40 maraschino cherries, chopped
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
TOPPING:
1 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Maraschino cherries with stems, drained and patted dry

Steps:

  • Place egg whites in a large bowl; let stand at room temperature 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°. Line bottoms of 2 greased 9-in. round baking pans with parchment; grease paper., In a large bowl, cream butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. In a small bowl, mix cream and cherry juice. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with cream mixture, beating well after each addition. Fold in cherries and walnuts. With clean beaters, beat egg whites on medium speed until stiff glossy peaks form. Fold into batter., Transfer batter to prepared pans. 1 teaspoon unsalted butter
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
2 large eggs, at room temperature
¼ cup plain yogurt
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups pitted cherries
½ cup dark chocolate chunks
½ cup chopped walnuts
¼ cup powdered sugar
3 teaspoons milk, or more as needed

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x4-inch loaf pan with 1 teaspoon butter and reserve.
  • Whisk flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda together in a bowl.

1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • In a bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add the egg, almond extract and vanilla while beating. Add cherries and the juices. Beat to combine everything.

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 cup sugar
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1/4 cup orange juice
1/4 cup honey, prefarably cherry blossom
2 tablespoons cherry liqueur
1 1/2 cups pitted, halved fresh cherries, preferably Montmorency (see note)
1 tablespoon grated orange peel
1/2 cup chopped black walnuts or pecans

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Butter a loaf pan 8 by 4 by 2 inches.
  • Sift the flour, baking powder and sugar into a bowl. Cut in the butter in a food processor, or use a fork, two knives or a pastry blender.
  • Mix the eggs, orange juice, honey and cherry liqueur together and stir in. Fold in the cherries, orange peel and nuts.
  • Spread batter into pan. Bake about 1 hour and 15 minutes, until nicely browned and cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean.

1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
3/4 cup maraschino cherry
3/4 cup pecans
2 eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup whole milk
1/4 cup maraschino cherry juice
1/2 cup sour cream

Steps:

  • Grease and line a standard 9″ loaf pan with parchment paper and non stick spray. Coursely chop cherries and pecans. Set aside.
  • Cream butter and sugar in bowl of a stand mixer with the paddle attachment.
  • Add eggs, vanilla, and sour cream beating until combined. Scrape down sides.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, salt and baking powder.
  • In a liquid measuring cup combine milk and cherry juice.
