1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 large egg
1/4 cup 2% milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup chopped maraschino cherries
3/4 cup chopped pecans

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, milk and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in the remaining ingredients. , Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 375° for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to wire racks to cool.

Grandma Parsons gave this recipe to my Mom, and so there cookies have been in both families for several generations now. These cookies are moist and loaded with fruits,nuts and dates, a perfect Christmas combination.

3 1/2 c all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 c butter, softened
2 c light brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
1/2 c buttermilk
1 c walnuts, chopped
1 c maraschino cherries, halved
2 c dates, chopped

Steps:

  • 1. Sift together flour, soda, salt. Set aside.
  • 2. Cream butter, brown sugar, eggs. Mix til light and fluffy
  • 3. Add creamed mixture alternately with flour mixture, then add buttermilk.
  • 4. Stir in nuts, cherries, dates.
  • 5. Drop by teaspoons on a lightly greased cookie sheet.
  • 6. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or unti lightly browned.

1/2 cup plus 1 cup confectioners' sugar, divided
1/2 teaspoon salt

2/3 cup macadamia nuts, toasted and finely chopped

Steps:

1 package (6 ounces) golden raisins and cherries
1/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons cherry juice blend
Dash ground cinnamon
1/2 cup butter, softened
3 ounces cream cheese, softened
1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 white chocolate Toblerone candy bar (3.52 ounces), finely chopped
1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts, toasted
2 teaspoons water
1/4 cup confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, combine first four ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 6-8 minutes or until most of the liquid is absorbed, stirring occasionally. Cool. , Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, beat butter and cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add flour., Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface; knead until smooth, about 3 minutes. 1 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 c butter, softened
2 1/4 c sugar
3 large eggs, beaten
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 c reserved cherry juice
3 c oats, quick cooking, uncooked
1 1/2 c pecans, chopped
1 jar(s) 12-oz. maraschino cherries, drain & reserve juice, chop cherries

Steps:

  • 1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease cookie sheets Bake 8 to 10 minutes Watch first batch closely, don't over bake. Makes 9 dozen
  • 2. Sift flour, salt and soda, set aside.
  • 3. In large bowl cream butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla and cherry juice. Mix well. Add dry ingredient, small amounts at a time, mixing well. Stir in oats, cherries and pecans. Note: If mixture seems to stiff you can add a little more cherry juice.

COOKIE INGREDIENTS
1 c softened butter
1/2 c powdered sugar
2 egg yolks
2 c flour
1 tsp almond extract
1 jar(s) (35-40) stemless maraschino cherries (save the juice)
35-40 pecan halves
SIMPLE BUTTERCREAM FROSTING (YOU CAN USE YOUR OWN-JUST USE CHERRY JUICE INSTEAD OF MILK)
1/2 c shortening, butter flavor
1/2 c butter (softened)
1 tsp vanilla extract
4 c powdered sugar
2 Tbsp reserved cherry juice

Steps:

  • 1. To make the cookies, beat butter, powdered sugar, and egg yolks together until creamy.
  • 2. Add almond extract and flour.
  • 3. Measure dough into 1 Tablespoon portions.
  • 4. Flatten dough into plam of hand. Place 1 pecan half and 1 cherry in middle.
  • 5. Form dough into a ball to seal them in the middle.
  • 6. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-14 minutes. The cookies will be light in color.
  • 7. Cool cookies completely on a rack. Frost the cookies with buttercream frosting using reserved cherry juice (instead of milk). It will turn a pretty pink color. Just mix all the buttercream indredients from above with your electric mixer until desired consistency.
  • 8. Add some pretty decorations to the top and they're done! Recipe makes about 28-30 cookies. Cookies can be made ahead and frozen.
  • 9. Delicious...I think I might go get one. =)
