Number Of Ingredients 12

FROSTING:
1 package Pillsbury Plus white cake mix
1 egg
1/2 cup sour cream
3 tablespoons cherry juice
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 cup maraschino cherries, finely chopped
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 to 3 tablespoons milk
1/4 cup margarine, soft
1 tablespoon cherry Juice
Maraschino Cherries, cut into fourths

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, combine cake mix, sour cream, 3 tablespoons cherry juice, almond and egg; stir until well blended. Fold in chopped cherries. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes or until edges are light brown. Let cool completely before you add frosting. In small bowl, combine all frosting ingredients, except maraschino cherries, adding enough milk for spreading consistency. Frost cooled cookies. Top with cherry piece

Tips:

  • Use fresh or frozen cherries. Fresh cherries are best, but frozen cherries will also work. If using frozen cherries, thaw them before using.
  • Don't overmix the dough. Overmixing will make the cookies tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Chill the dough before baking. Chilling the dough will help the cookies hold their shape and prevent them from spreading too much.
  • Bake the cookies until they are just set. Overbaking will make the cookies dry and crumbly. The cookies should be slightly soft in the center when you take them out of the oven.
  • Let the cookies cool completely before storing them. This will help them keep their shape and prevent them from becoming sticky.

Conclusion:

Cherry drop cookies are a delicious and easy-to-make treat. They are perfect for any occasion, from a casual get-together to a holiday party. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make these delicious cookies that everyone will love. So next time you are looking for a sweet treat, give cherry drop cookies a try.
