Tips:

  • Use fresh, ripe cherries. This will give your dump cake the best flavor.
  • If you don't have fresh cherries, you can use frozen cherries. Just be sure to thaw them before using.
  • You can use any type of cream cheese you like. Regular cream cheese, whipped cream cheese, or even flavored cream cheese will all work well.
  • If you don't have yellow cake mix, you can use another type of cake mix. Chocolate cake mix, white cake mix, or even strawberry cake mix would all be good choices.
  • Be sure to grease your baking dish before adding the ingredients. This will help prevent the cake from sticking.
  • Bake the dump cake until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. This usually takes about 45 minutes.
  • Let the dump cake cool for a few minutes before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld together.
