One of my husband's co-workers brought this into work. He loved it so much he asked her for the recipe -- it's a quick and easy recipe and I've made it many times to bring to family get-togethers for those with a "sweet tooth". Cooking time does not include chilling time.

1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, melted
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 cup Cool Whip, thawed
21 ounces cherry pie filling, divided

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom of 9-inch springform pan. In large bowl, stir together butter, sugar and vanilla. Add eggs; using spoon, beat well.
  • In a small bowl, stir together flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt; gradually add to egg mixture, beating until well-blended. Spread into prepared pan.
  • Bake 25-30 minutes or until cake is set. (Cake will be fudgey; wooden pick inserted in center will not come out clean.) Cool completely in pan on wire rack.
  • Prepare cream layer as follows: In small mixer bowl, beat cream cheese and confectioners' sugar until well-blended. Fold in whipped topping and spread mixture over top of torte. Spread 1 cup cherry pie filling over cream layer; refrigerate 3 hours. With knife, loosen cake from side of pan; remove side of pan. Serve with some remaining pie filling around each slice of the torte, if desired. Cover and refrigerate leftover torte.

1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1 cup plus 1 teaspoon sugar, divided
2 teaspoon vanilla extract, divided
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1 can (21 ounces) cherry or blueberry pie filling

Steps:

  • Place a layer of ladyfingers on the bottom and around the sides of an ungreased 9-in. springform pan. In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, 1 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla until smooth. Beat in lemon juice and zest. In a small bowl, beat cream until it begins to thicken. Add remaining sugar and vanilla; beat until stiff peaks form. Fold into cream cheese mixture. 1 box super moist cake mix - i prefer french vanilla
2 can(s) cherry pie filling
8 oz cream cheese
1 can(s) eagle brand condensed milk
1 pt heavy whipping cream

Steps:

  • 1. Mix cake according to directions on box and bake in 13 x 9 pan. When baked allow to cool.
  • 2. Whip heavy whipping cream until fluffy.
  • 3. Allow cream cheese to come to room temperature, then beat together with eagle brand milk.
  • 4. Add whipped cream to cream cheese mixture, blend
  • 5. Cut up 1/2 of cake into small pieces and place in bottom of Torte dish. Ice with 1/2 of Cream Cheese mixture, top this with one can of Cherry Pie filling. Do the same steps again to finish off another layer of the torte.
