Cherry-Cheese Gelatin Salad image

THIS recipe was in a community cookbook compiled by our high school's booster club 22 years ago. The measurements and directions were vague so I experimented until I got it right. This is a pretty salad to serve at luncheons and the flavor is light. --Karen Ann Bland, Gove, Kansas

Tips:

  • Use fresh cherries. Fresh cherries will give your salad the best flavor. If you can't find fresh cherries, you can use frozen or canned cherries, but they will not be as flavorful.
  • Pit the cherries before using them. You can use a cherry pitter to make this easier.
  • Use a high-quality cream cheese. A good cream cheese will make your salad smooth and creamy. Avoid using low-fat or fat-free cream cheese, as they will not taste as good.
  • Use a flavored gelatin. You can use any flavor of gelatin you like, but cherry gelatin or lemon gelatin are popular choices.
  • Let the salad chill for at least 4 hours before serving. This will give the gelatin time to set and the flavors to meld.

Conclusion:

Cherry cheese gelatin salad is a classic side dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be made ahead of time, making it a great option for busy weeknights. With its sweet and tangy flavor, cherry cheese gelatin salad is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
