Tips:

  • Choose the right potatoes: Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes are best for this recipe as they hold their shape well and have a creamy texture.
  • Use a sharp knife: A sharp knife will help you make clean, even cuts in the potatoes.
  • Be careful not to cut the potatoes all the way through: You want the potatoes to stay attached at the bottom so that they open up like a rose.
  • Soak the potatoes in water: This will help to remove the starch and prevent the potatoes from browning.
  • Use a good quality olive oil: Extra virgin olive oil is best for this recipe as it has a rich flavor and aroma.
  • Season the potatoes well: Salt, pepper, and garlic powder are all essential seasonings for this recipe.
  • Roast the potatoes until they are tender and golden brown: This will take about 30 minutes.
  • Serve the potatoes immediately: These potatoes are best served hot out of the oven.

Conclusion:

Chef John's Potato Roses are a delicious and elegant side dish that is perfect for any occasion. They are easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. So next time you are looking for a unique and impressive side dish, give these Potato Roses a try.
