SWISS CHEESE GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE

Swiss Cheese Green Bean Casserole image

When I make this special-occasion veggie dish, I am ALWAYS asked for the recipe. Fresh steamed green beans provide a contrast to decadent melted Swiss cheese and crunchy topping. A family holiday favorite throughout my extended family. You can prepare ahead of time, leaving 4 to 5 minutes to steam the green beans and add other ingredients. Put into oven right before serving dinner (we usually put it in while carving the turkey).

Tips for Making Cheez-It Green Bean Casserole

  • Use fresh green beans. Fresh green beans will give your casserole the best flavor and texture. If you're using frozen green beans, be sure to thaw them completely before cooking.
  • Cook the green beans until they are crisp-tender. You don't want to overcook the green beans, or they will become mushy. Cook them just until they are bright green and still have a little bit of a snap to them.
  • Use a good quality cream of mushroom soup. The cream of mushroom soup is one of the key ingredients in this casserole, so it's important to use a good quality soup. Look for a soup that is made with real mushrooms and has a creamy, rich flavor.
  • Don't skimp on the Cheez-Its. The Cheez-Its are what make this casserole so unique and delicious. Be sure to use a generous amount of Cheez-Its, both in the casserole and on top.
  • Bake the casserole until it is bubbly and golden brown. The casserole is done baking when it is bubbly around the edges and the top is golden brown. This usually takes about 25 minutes.

Conclusion

Cheez-It green bean casserole is a delicious and easy-to-make side dish that is perfect for any occasion. It's also a great way to use up leftover green beans. With its creamy, cheesy, and crunchy texture, this casserole is sure to be a hit with everyone at the table.
