Steps:
- Cheese sauce -- Add the beer (or milk), cheese, mustard, and onion to a small sauce pan and heat up. Garnish with the sauteed bacon.
- Bread -- Separate the 12 bread sticks and then cut each lengthwise in half to make 24 bread sticks. Now roll each one to make a small rope. Now make a knot. I don't care how you make the knot, use any design you want. I like to make a '"O" the cross the bottom and twist and then flip the cross piece back over the "O", but again, just make a knot, it isn't important that they look perfect.
- Brush the breadstick with egg and then add the salt. Bake 375 for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve with the cheese sauce. The perfect quick appetizer.

Steps:
- 1. Preheat oven 450*. In a measuring cup stir yeast, warm water, sugar and salt together let proof for 5-10 minutes till bubbly.
- 2. In a mixing bowl, add flour, melted butter add yeast mixture. mix with wooden spoon (I use my clean hands) to form a ball.
- 3. Flour a work surface, knead dough 5 minutes or until smooth. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover and set aside for 1 hour until doubled in size.
- 4. Knead dough on floured surface for 5 minutes. Divide into 8-10 balls, roll out dough into a 12 inch length. Twist into pretzel shape.
- 5. Meanwhile, bring 10 Cups of water to a boil, add 2/3 cups baking soda to the water. After pretzels are formed, drop into boiling soda water for 30 seconds. Remove and place on parchment lined baking sheet.
- 6. Brush pretzels with egg wash (egg & water mixed) and sprinkle with shredded cheese of your choice. Place into oven to bake for 12-15 min... check them for brown color.
Tips:
- Use warm water (about 110°F) to activate the yeast. If the water is too hot, it will kill the yeast and your pretzels won't rise properly.
- Be patient when kneading the dough. It may take a few minutes for it to come together and become smooth and elastic.
- Don't overproof the dough. Once it has doubled in size, it's ready to be shaped.
- Boiling the pretzels before baking them gives them their characteristic chewy texture.
- Use a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to prevent the pretzels from sticking.
- Brush the pretzels with melted butter before baking them for a golden brown crust.
Conclusion:
These cheesy soft pretzels are the perfect snack or appetizer. They're soft, chewy, and cheesy, and they're sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them. So next time you're looking for a delicious and easy-to-make treat, give these pretzels a try. You won't be disappointed!
