Tips:

  • Prep your ingredients in advance: Dicing the potatoes, slicing the sausage, and measuring out the other ingredients will save you time and ensure that everything is ready when you need it.
  • Use a large skillet or Dutch oven: You'll need a large skillet or Dutch oven that can accommodate all of the ingredients comfortably. This will prevent overcrowding and ensure that the potatoes and sausage cook evenly.
  • Cook the sausage first: Browning the sausage before adding the other ingredients will help to develop its flavor and prevent it from becoming greasy.
  • Don't overcrowd the skillet: When adding the potatoes, make sure that they are in a single layer in the skillet. Overcrowding will prevent them from cooking evenly.
  • Stir the skillet occasionally: Stirring the skillet occasionally will help to prevent the potatoes from sticking to the bottom and ensure that they cook evenly.
  • Season to taste: Once the potatoes and sausage are cooked, season them to taste with salt, pepper, and any other desired seasonings.
  • Top with cheese: Finally, top the skillet with shredded cheese and place it under the broiler until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
