Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 13

8 ounce package cream cheese or Neufchatel (light cream cheese) (softened)
½ cup mayonnaise
½ cup light or regular sour cream
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon grated white onion
12 ounces lump crab meat (from 2 6-ounce cans)
1 teaspoon all-purpose seasoning salt (I use Lawry's Seasoned Salt)
½ teaspoon Worcestershire
½ lemon (juiced)
2 tablespoons finely chopped Italian parsley
a few shakes of Tabasco (to taste)
freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
crackers (baguette slices, or tortilla chips for serving)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Place cream cheese, mayonnaise, and sour cream in a medium mixing bowl and stir until creamy. Add remaining ingredients and stir again until well combined. Transfer to a small baking dish and transfer to oven.
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until browned and bubbly.
  • Serve with crackers, baguette slices, or tortilla chips.
  • Add the ingredients to a small (3- to 4-quart) slow cooker, stir to combine, and set it on LOW for 2 hours. It needs to cook until the cream cheese melts completely. Stir the dip and then let it cook for an additional 15 to 20 minutes.
  • It should keep well for up to an hour on the KEEP WARM or LOW setting. Be sure to stir it occasionally to prevent it from burning or separating.

Time 40m

Yield 2-3 cups

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 lb crabmeat, picked over for shells
1 teaspoon garlic, chopped
1/2 cup pickled jalapeno pepper, chopped
1/4 lb jalapeno jack cheese, grated
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon hot sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 ounces parmigiano-reggiano cheese, grated

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Combine crabmeat, garlic, jalapenos, Monterey Jack cheese, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, salt and mayonnaise in a medium mixing bowl.
  • Toss gently to mix.
  • Spoon the mixture into a medium size casserole. Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese evenly on the top of crabmeat mixture.
  • Bake until golden brown and bubbly, about 25 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and let sit for about 5 minutes before serving with the croutons.

Tips:

  • To make the dip more flavorful, use high-quality crab meat. Fresh or frozen crab meat will work well, but avoid using canned crab meat as it can be bland and watery.
  • If you don't have any fresh jalapeños on hand, you can use canned or pickled jalapeños instead. Just be sure to drain them well before adding them to the dip.
  • To make the dip more creamy, use a combination of cream cheese and sour cream. You can also add a little bit of milk or heavy cream to thin out the dip.
  • If you want to add some extra heat to the dip, you can add a teaspoon or two of cayenne pepper or chili powder.
  • Serve the dip with crackers, chips, or vegetables. You can also use it as a topping for tacos or nachos.

Conclusion:

This cheesy jalapeño crab dip is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. It is creamy, flavorful, and has just the right amount of heat. Whether you are serving it at a party or enjoying it as a snack at home, this dip is sure to be a hit.
