CHEESY CAULIFLOWER & SMOKED SAUSAGE BAKE
I had a half a pound of smoked sausage and didn't want to just fry and serve it up. I did a bit of " Freezer Diving " ;) and found a bag of cauliflower. So, I combined that with the smoked sausage, a few extras, and a cheese sauce and this is what I came up with. :)If you wanted to, you can cook about 1/8th. to 1/4th cup of finely chopped onion with the sausage. And to make this a One- Dish meal, just add some frozen peas. I want to thank Chef#64642 ( Molly53 ) and Chef#546010 ( Chicagoland du Jour ) for coming up with the name for this recipe.I know that this looks complicated, but it's really easy to make.Submitted to Food.com ( a.k.a. Tips:
- Prep your veggies right. For even cooking, cut your cauliflower into florets of roughly the same size.
- Sauté those veggies. Sautéing your veggies before baking helps bring out their natural sweetness and caramelized flavor.
- Use a good quality smoked sausage. The sausage is a key flavor component in this dish, so don't skimp on quality.
- Don't overcrowd the pan. If you overcrowd the pan, the veggies won't cook evenly and will end up soggy.
- Use a generous amount of cheese. Cheese is what makes this dish so cheesy and delicious, so don't be shy about it!
- Broil it to perfection. Broiling the dish at the end gives the cheese a nice golden brown color and makes it extra bubbly.
Conclusion:
This cheesy cauliflower smoked sausage bake is a hearty and flavorful dish that's perfect for a weeknight dinner. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give this recipe a try!
