Tips:

  • Choose the right cabbage. For this recipe, you'll want to use a firm, green cabbage. Avoid any heads that are wilted or have brown spots.
  • Slice the cabbage thinly. This will help it cook evenly and quickly.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan. If you're cooking the cabbage in a skillet, make sure to give it enough room to spread out. Otherwise, it will steam instead of brown.
  • Season the cabbage well. Salt, pepper, and garlic powder are all good options.
  • Use a good quality cheese. The cheese is one of the main ingredients in this recipe, so it's important to use a cheese that you like. A sharp cheddar or Gruyère are both good choices.
  • Don't overcook the cabbage. Cabbage is a quick-cooking vegetable, so it's important to keep an eye on it while it's cooking. Overcooked cabbage will be mushy and bland.
  • Serve the cabbage gratin immediately. This dish is best served hot and fresh out of the oven.

Conclusion:

Cheesy cabbage gratin is a delicious and easy-to-make side dish that is perfect for any occasion. It's cheesy, flavorful, and sure to be a hit with everyone at the table. So next time you're looking for a new side dish to try, give this cheesy cabbage gratin a try. You won't be disappointed.
