Tips:

  • Prep the dough ahead of time: To save time, make the dough a day or two in advance and keep it refrigerated until ready to use. Alternatively, you can use store-bought pizza dough.
  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients: The better the quality of your ingredients, the better your calzones will taste. Look for fresh artichokes, spinach, and cheese.
  • Don't overstuff the calzones: Otherwise, they will be difficult to fold and seal. Aim for about 1/2 cup of filling per calzone.
  • Seal the calzones tightly: To prevent the filling from leaking out, make sure to seal the edges of the dough firmly before baking.
  • Bake the calzones until golden brown: This will ensure that they are cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
