Steps:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly spray a 13 x 9-inch baking dish. Open biscuits and cut into quarters. Spread evenly over the bottom of prepared baking dish. Brown ground beef in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Drain fat from pan. Lower heat to low and add the Velveeta, milk, ketchup and onion, stirring frequently until Velveeta is melted. If you want more sauce, add another 1/4 cup of milk. Top biscuits with meat/cheese sauce mixture. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar over the meat. Top with tater tots/crowns/french fries, spreading them out until they almost cover the top. Bake at 375 for 20-30 minutes, or until potatoes are done and crispy and biscuits are cooked through. Serves 4-6
Tips:
- For a crispier casserole, use frozen French fries instead of fresh ones.
- Season the ground beef with your favorite seasonings, such as salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Use a sharp cheddar cheese for the best flavor.
- If you don't have a cast iron skillet, you can use a large oven-safe skillet.
- Be careful not to overcook the casserole, or the fries will become soggy.
