Have your golden, flaky crescent rolls and eat your cheeseburger too: This crowd-pleasing ring is filled with beef and all your favorite burger toppings--bacon, cheese, pickles and a special sauce.

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Time 1h15m

Yield 8 to 10 servings

Number Of Ingredients 13

3/4 cup ketchup
3/4 cup mayonnaise
40 dill pickle chips, finely chopped, plus 16 whole dill pickle chips (from a 32-ounce jar)
1/3 cup yellow mustard
6 strips bacon, chopped
Half small red onion, finely chopped
1 pound ground beef
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Nonstick cooking spray, for the pan
Two 8-ounce tubes refrigerated crescent roll dough
5 slices American cheese, cut in half
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Stir together the ketchup, mayonnaise, chopped pickles and mustard in a medium bowl. Set aside.
  • Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat until golden and crispy, 3 to 4 minutes per side. Drain all but 1 tablespoon of bacon drippings from the skillet. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, 2 to 3 minutes. Add in the ground beef, 1/2 teaspoon salt and a few grinds of pepper and cook, breaking the meat up with a wooden spoon and scraping up any brown bits in the pan, until golden brown in spots and cooked through, 5 to 6 minutes. Transfer to a medium bowl and let cool slightly, about 15 minutes. Stir in 3/4 cup of the ketchup sauce.
  • Coat the back of a baking sheet with cooking spray. Unroll both cans of crescent dough and separate unto 16 triangles. Put a 5-inch ramekin in the center of the prepared baking sheet. Arrange the triangles in a ring around the ramekin so the short sides of the dough are touching the ramekin, overlapping slightly, and the pointed ends are facing outward (it should look like a giant sun).
  • Spoon the beef mixture over the short ends of the triangles closest to the ramekin. Cover the beef with the cheese slices. Top the cheese with the pickle slices. Remove the ramekin. Take hold of the pointed end of one of the triangles and fold it up and over the filling, tucking the tip under the bottom edge of dough to secure (the dough will not cover the filling completely but should cover the pickle slice). Repeat with the remaining triangles (there will be some gaps where you can see the beef mixture).
  • Bake until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 25 minutes. Brush the ring with butter and sprinkle on the sesame seeds. Let cool for 15 minutes. Use a spatula to slide the ring off the baking sheet onto a platter. Serve with the remaining ketchup sauce.

  • (There should be a 5-inch diameter opening in the center.) Scoop meat mixture evenly onto widest end of each triangle.

  • Slice tomatoes.
  • Arrange tomato slices around inside center of ring.
  • Slice lettuce into thin strands.
  • Place in center of ring.
  • Serve with additional ketchup and mustard, if desired.

Tips:

  • Choose the right type of crescent roll dough: There are two main types of crescent roll dough: refrigerated and frozen. Refrigerated dough is easier to work with, but frozen dough will give you a flakier crust.
  • Thaw the dough properly: If you are using frozen dough, be sure to thaw it completely before using it. This will help the dough to rise properly and prevent it from becoming tough.
  • Brown the beef well: The beef is the main ingredient in this recipe, so it's important to brown it well. This will give the cheeseburger ring a delicious flavor and help to keep the meat moist.
  • Use a variety of cheeses: The type of cheese you use will also affect the flavor of the cheeseburger ring. You can use a single type of cheese, or you can use a combination of different cheeses. Some popular choices include cheddar, mozzarella, and Swiss cheese.
  • Don't overfill the ring: When you are assembling the cheeseburger ring, be careful not to overfill it. If you do, the ring will be difficult to close and the filling may spill out during baking.
  • Bake the ring until it is golden brown: The cheeseburger ring should be baked until it is golden brown. This will ensure that the dough is cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Conclusion:

The cheeseburger crescent ring is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a party or a potluck. It's also a great way to use up leftover beef. With its flaky crust, savory filling, and melted cheese, the cheeseburger crescent ring is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
