Tips:

  • For the best flavor, use fresh, ripe huckleberries. If you can't find fresh huckleberries, frozen huckleberries will also work.
  • To make sure the crust is flaky, use cold butter and ice water. Work the butter into the flour quickly so that it doesn't melt.
  • Don't overmix the dough. Overmixing will make the crust tough.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before rolling it out. This will make it easier to work with.
  • When you're rolling out the dough, use a light touch. Don't press down too hard, or the dough will be tough.
  • If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour. If the dough is too dry, add a little more water.
  • To prevent the crust from shrinking, trim the edges of the dough before baking it.
  • Bake the pie in a preheated oven. This will help to ensure that the crust is cooked evenly.
  • Let the pie cool completely before serving. This will allow the filling to set.

Conclusion:

This cheese huckleberry pie is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert. The combination of sweet huckleberries, creamy cheese, and flaky crust is sure to please everyone. Whether you're serving it for a special occasion or just a weeknight treat, this pie is sure to be a hit.
