Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

CHEESE AND GARLIC CRACK BREAD

Yield 8-10 People

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 crusty loaf, preferably sourdough or Vienna
¾ cup shredded Mozzarella cheese (or other melting cheese)
Garlic Butter
100g/3.5oz unsalted butter, softened
2 garlic cloves, minced
⅜ tsp salt
1 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 180C/350F. Melt butter and then mix in other Garlic Butter ingredients. Cut the bread on a diagonal into 2cm/1" diamonds but do not cut all the way through the bread (just like you would cut a french stick for garlic bread). Use your fingers or a knife to pry open each crack and drizzle in a teaspoon of butter and stuff in a pinch of cheese. This might sound like a bit of an effort, but I promise you it is worth it! You don't need to be super neat, it's nice to have some of the butter drizzled over the crust. Wrap with foil and bake for 15minutes until the cheese has mostly melted, then unwrap and bake for 5 minutes more to make the bread nice and crusty. Serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality bread that is sturdy enough to hold up to the toppings. A French baguette or sourdough loaf works well.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different types of cheese. A combination of sharp cheddar, Parmesan, and mozzarella is a classic, but you could also try Gouda, Gruyère, or fontina.
  • Be generous with the garlic butter. It's what gives the bread its irresistible flavor.
  • Bake the bread until it is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly. This will take about 15-20 minutes.
  • Serve the bread immediately, while it is still warm and gooey. It's perfect for a party or potluck, or as a side dish for dinner.

Conclusion:

Cheese and garlic crack bread is an easy-to-make, delicious appetizer or side dish that is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. With its crispy bread, melted cheese, and garlicky flavor, it's the perfect comfort food for any occasion. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy recipe, give cheese and garlic crack bread a try. You won't be disappointed!
