This would be a fun project in the kitchen for kids. I think you could substitute regular Cheerios for Honey Nut Cheerios because these bars are pretty sweet. This is a super simple treat you can whip up at the last minute that looks festive and is similar to Rice Krispy Treats. Recipe from Family Dollar Recipe and Coupon Book and General Mills.

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Cheerios: Use original Cheerios or a similar cereal that holds its shape when wet.
  • Make a Sturdy Cone: Roll the cereal tightly around the pencil to create a sturdy cone shape. Secure it with a dab of peanut butter or frosting.
  • Let the Trees Dry Completely: Allow the cereal trees to dry completely before decorating them. This will help them hold their shape.
  • Garnish with Caution: Use lightweight garnishes like sprinkles, candies, or mini marshmallows to avoid weighing down the cereal trees.
  • Craft a Festive Scene: Place the finished cereal trees in a festive setting, such as a winter wonderland made of cotton balls or a colorful display of other holiday treats.
