CHEDDAR-MUSHROOM STUFFED POTATOES

Cheddar-Mushroom Stuffed Potatoes image

To come up with this recipe, I just put together three of my family's favorite ingredients - potatoes, mushrooms and bacon. I prepare it as a quick-and-easy party dish. It's also a natural contribution to a potluck. And I serve it as an entree at times with a side vegetable. -Jenean Schuetz, Longmont, Colorado

Tips:

  • Use a variety of mushrooms. This will give your dish a more complex flavor. Some good options include cremini mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, and oyster mushrooms.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan. When cooking the mushrooms, make sure to give them enough space so that they can brown properly. If you overcrowd the pan, the mushrooms will steam instead of brown.
  • Cook the potatoes until they are tender. You can check this by inserting a fork into the potatoes. If the fork goes in easily, the potatoes are done.
  • Use a sharp knife to slice the potatoes. This will help to ensure that the potatoes are evenly cooked.
  • Season the potatoes liberally. This will help to bring out their flavor. Some good options for seasonings include salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Serve the potatoes immediately. This is when they are at their best.

Conclusion:

Cheddar mushroom potatoes are a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for any occasion. They are creamy, cheesy, and full of flavor. The mushrooms add a savory richness to the dish, while the cheddar cheese gives it a nice tang. These potatoes are a great side dish for chicken, fish, or steak. They can also be served as a main course with a salad.
