  • I use 2 cookie sheets so that the pretzels are not layered on top of each other.

SEASONED PRETZELS

Baked hard pretzels seasoned with lemon pepper, dill, and garlic powder. You will not be able to stop snacking on these!

Provided by Sally

Categories     Snacks

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 6

one 12-16 ounce bag hard pretzels
3/4 cup (180ml) oil (vegetable or olive)
1 and 1/2 Tablespoons lemon pepper
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons dried dill weed
optional: additional spices, see notes

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 200°F (93°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Set aside.
  • Break the pretzels into pieces. Place them in a large zipped-top bag or in a large bowl. Add the oil and the spices. Shake/stir together very well. Sometimes I shake or it, let it sit for a minute, and shake or stir it again. You want every piece coated very well. If you find there aren't enough spices coating the pretzels, add more spices to your taste.
  • Spread the pretzels onto the prepared baking sheet. If they don't all fit in a single layer, use two sheets. Bake for 50 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool completely.
  • Pretzels stay fresh covered tightly at room temperature for 3 weeks. They won't last that long!

SEASONED PRETZELS

I make this for all of my big events. I have no idea how many this actually serves - but I do know that this is one of my most requested recipes.

Provided by GotBoxer

Categories     Kid Friendly

Time 1h5m

Yield 20 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

40 ounces fat free pretzels
15 ounces mixed nuts
16 ounces popcorn butter-flavored oil
2 tablespoons ranch dressing mix
1 tablespoon dill
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • Mix all of the ingredients in order, in a large bowl and stir until well combined.
  • Let pretzels stand for atleast three or four hours, stirring every hour or so from the bottom to make sure that the topping doesn't settle on the bottom of the bowl before it has "dried". Depending on the weather and humidity, it could take up to a day, just stir the mix every couple of hours. You could also put the mix in large ziplock baggies and shake it up instead of stirring if that is easier.
  • Store in an air-tight container.

Tips:

  • Use baking soda solution: This is a crucial step in creating that classic pretzel shape and giving it a golden-brown color. Don't skip it!
  • Don't overcrowd the baking sheet: Make sure to leave enough space between the pretzels on the baking sheet so that they have room to rise and bake evenly.
  • Watch the baking time: Keep a close eye on the pretzels while they're baking. They should be a deep golden brown, but not too dark.
  • Season while warm: Sprinkle the pretzels with your favorite seasonings while they're still warm so that the seasonings will adhere better.
  • Store properly: Store the pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze them for up to 2 months.
