1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
8 ounces cream cheese (, softened)
1/2 cup butter (, softened)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3-4 cups powdered sugar

Steps:

  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the shortening and sugar.
  • Add eggs, milk, and vanilla and mix.

1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon fine salt
1 cup sugar, plus more (about 1/3 cup) for rolling
1 1/2 sticks (3/4 cup) unsalted butter, cut into small pieces, at room temperature
2 large eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt in a small bowl.
  • Beat the sugar and butter with an electric mixer on medium speed in a large bowl until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Beat in the eggs and then the vanilla.
