There are several (maybe hundreds ?) other chai recipes posted all over the Internet, but none have quite the lineup of spices that are included in this recipe, which I really liked a lot. It's delicious!

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 1/2 cups water
1 cup half & half milk
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (or 1/2 inch cinnamon stick)
1/3 tsp ground cardamom (or 3 cardamom pods)
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground cloves (or 2 whole cloves, crushed)
3 bags black tea (green tea and tea blends don't work well)
1/2 to 1 tsp sugar, or to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Place water, half and half, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger and cloves in tea pot or saucepot and let it reach a low boil. Stir well, and let boil 2 more minutes.
  • 2. While still boiling, add the tea bags and let it reach desired tea strength.
  • 3. Add sugar as desired, and serve hot.

Tips:

  • For an authentic chai experience, use freshly ground spices. You can find pre-ground chai spice blends, but they may not be as flavorful.
  • If you don't have a cheesecloth bag, you can use a tea infuser or strainer. Just make sure that the holes are small enough to keep the spices from escaping.
  • Be careful not to boil the milk. Boiling can cause the milk to scorch and ruin the flavor of the chai.
  • Sweeten the chai to taste. You can use sugar, honey, or another sweetener of your choice.
  • Chai can be served hot or cold. If you're serving it cold, be sure to chill it for at least 2 hours before serving.

Conclusion:

Chai is a delicious and versatile beverage that can be enjoyed at any time of day. It's perfect for warming up on a cold winter day or cooling down on a hot summer day. And because it's so easy to make, you can enjoy chai whenever you want. So next time you're looking for a refreshing and flavorful drink, give chai a try. You won't be disappointed.
