ICED CHAI/ESPRESSO LATTE

Iced Chai/Espresso Latte image

All the caffeine of espresso with the flavor of chai :) Use 2 tea bags for an extra strong flavor. I like to top with whipped cream and sprinkled cinnamon or drizzled honey. Tip: If you don't have an espresso machine and use regular strength coffee, you can vary the recipe as follows: 1) brew coffee; 2) place tea bags & sugar in hot coffee to soak and place in the refrigerator to chill; 3) mix with half n half.

Provided by heidi

Categories     Beverages

Time 5m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 -2 chai tea teabags
2 tablespoons ground coffee
2 -3 teaspoons sugar or 2 -3 teaspoons honey
4 -5 ice cubes
5 -8 ounces 2% low-fat milk (at least 2% milkfat!)

Steps:

  • Cut open the tea bags and place in the bottom of the filter cup for your espresso machine.
  • Place the coffee on top of the tea leaves (straining the espresso over the chai gives it the strongest flavor).
  • Brew the espresso and mix in the sugar while it is still hot.
  • Pour into a 12 ounce glass and quickly stir in 4-5 ice cubes until the side of the glass feels chilled.
  • Fill to the top with milk.

Vanilla Matcha Chai Latte (Dairy Free) image

This is my new love. I tried a matcha latte at Teaopia tea shop and fell in love with the detox & energy of this Japanese tea. I love that the caffeine in matcha releases slowly into the blood not like caffeine in coffee so you don't get jittery unless you drink a ton without eating anything else, then maybe. CHAI LATTE MUFFINS

Chai Latte Muffins image

Make and share this Chai Latte Muffins recipe from Food.com.

Provided by swirlycinnacakes

Categories     Quick Breads

Time 36m

Yield 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 15

1 cup soymilk
4 black chai tea teabags
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup plain yogurt
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cardamom
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 pinch ground pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
  • Heat milk to almost boiling (in the microwave or a small sauce pan) and steep the tea bags for about 10 minutes, making very strong, milky tea. Don't worry about making the tea bitter (which can happen as a result of oversteeping) because you won't taste it in the end product.
  • In a large bowl whisk together oil, yogurt, sugar and vanilla.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and spices. Pour half into the yogurt mixture, stirring well, followed by the tea mixture and the rest of the flour. Stir only until just combined, then evenly distribute into prepared muffin tin.
  • Bake for about 21-23 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the muffin springs back when lightly pressed.
  • Cool completely on a wire rack.
  • Top with sifted confectioners' sugar when cooled. Mix 2 tbsp cocoa powder with 1 tsp cinnamon and 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg together in a small bowl. Sift lightly over top of the sugar (using a stencil for accuracy, if you want) to add a bit of extra spice.

Tips:

  • Use Loose-Leaf Tea: For an aromatic and flavorful chai latte, opt for loose-leaf black tea instead of tea bags. It allows the tea leaves to fully infuse and release their natural flavors.
  • Freshly Grind Spices: Grinding your own spices, such as cinnamon, cardamom, and ginger, just before brewing the chai tea enhances their flavor and aroma.
  • Steep Tea Properly: Properly steeping the chai tea is crucial for optimal flavor. Follow the recommended steeping time for your chosen black tea, typically around 3-5 minutes.
  • Use Quality Milk: The milk used in your chai latte greatly impacts the taste. Choose high-quality milk, such as whole milk or almond milk, for a richer and creamier latte.
  • Sweeten to Your Preference: Adjust the sweetness of your chai latte to your liking. Use honey, maple syrup, or your preferred sweetener, adding it gradually to achieve the desired level of sweetness.
  • Garnish Elegantly: Elevate the presentation of your chai latte by garnishing it with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon, nutmeg, or a dash of whipped cream for a touch of indulgence.

Conclusion:

Indulge in the comforting and flavorful experience of a homemade chai latte with this comprehensive guide. By following these tips and brewing techniques, you can create a barista-quality chai latte in the comfort of your own home.
