Provided by tjberens

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 large green bell pepper, diced
1 large onion, diced
2 ounces margarine, 1/2 stick
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 pound assorted pasta, wheels, shells, spirals, ziti
1/2 pound pepperoni, sliced thin then cut in half
8 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/2 pound hamburger, browned
1/2 pound Italian sausage, browned
1 (16-ounce) jar meat flavored sauce

Steps:

  • Melt margarine over medium high heat in a skillet. Add onions, peppers, and garlic powder. Sauté for about 4 minutes. Meanwhile, cook pasta according to box directions. Heat sauce and combine with cooked hamburger and cooked sausage. Lightly grease a 13 x 11-inch casserole dish or your individual pasta dishes. Place 1/2 of the cooked pasta in the dishes, followed by 1/2 the vegetables, 1/2 of the pepperoni and 1/2 sauce. Repeat another layer. Spread mozzarella cheese over top. Bake at 350°F for about 45 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Tips:

  • Choose the right type of pasta: Short, sturdy pastas like cavatini, penne, and rotini hold the sauce well and are perfect for this recipe.
  • Cook the pasta al dente: This means cooking it until it is just tender, but still has a slight bite to it. Overcooked pasta will be mushy and won't hold up well in the casserole.
  • Use a flavorful sauce: The sauce is the star of this dish, so make sure it's flavorful and packed with your favorite ingredients. A simple tomato sauce, Alfredo sauce, or pesto sauce are all great options.
  • Don't skimp on the cheese: Cheese is what makes this dish so gooey and delicious. Use a good quality cheese that melts well, such as mozzarella, cheddar, or Parmesan.
  • Bake the casserole until it's bubbly and golden brown: This will ensure that the cheese is melted and the casserole is heated through.

Conclusion:

This cavatini pizza hut casserole is a quick and easy meal that is sure to please the whole family. With its creamy sauce, gooey cheese, and crispy pasta, it's a dish that everyone will love. So next time you're looking for a comforting and delicious meal, give this casserole a try. You won't be disappointed.
