BEST EVER CARNE ASADA MARINADE

Best Ever Carne Asada Marinade image

This traditional Mexican carne asada marinade recipe will marinade 5 or 6 pounds of meat and can be easily halved or doubled. I've tried many carne asada recipes through the years, and this one outshines them all. The flavors are the most flavorful and authentic and the meat is pull-apart tender. I suggest marinating overnight for the best results. Muy delicioso!

CARNE ASADA BURGERS

Carne Asada Burgers image

I saw Bergy had a recipe for Carne Asada Burgers, and while they weren't quite what I wanted, they inspired me to make up my own. We thought they were delicious! I am very much a cheeseburger person, but I didn't miss the cheese at all. In fact, I think it would not be as good with cheese as it was without it, except maybe pepper jack. Prep time includes marinading time.

Time 1h35m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 pounds skirt steak
1/2 cup cilantro leaves and stems, finely chopped
1/2 cup olive oil
1/3 cup freshly squeezed orange juice (1 large orange)
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (2 limes)
3 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons Mexican oregano or other oregano
4 cloves garlic
1 serrano chile, seeds removed
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 limes, cut into wedges, for serving

Steps:

  • Place the skirt steak in a large glass bowl or resealable plastic bag.
  • To make the marinade, add the cilantro, olive oil, orange juice, lime juice, honey, oregano, garlic and serrano chile to a blender. Season with a small pinch of salt and pepper. Blend for 35 to 40 seconds to combine.
  • Pour the marinade all over the steak, moving it around to make sure everything is covered. Cover or seal and transfer to the refrigerator and allow to marinate for at least 1 hour, but no more than 6 (too long in the marinade will cause the steak to begin breaking down).
  • Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  • When ready, remove the steak from the marinade, letting the excess drip off. Sprinkle generously with salt and pepper and grill about 4 minutes per side for medium.
  • Remove to a cutting board and allow to rest for 5 to 7 minutes. Slice the steak against the grain and serve with the lime wedges.

I couldn't find quite the right burger for tonight so I made this one up and thought it turned out rather well -Hope you try it. I did not include possible garnishs' to the ingredient list because it is up to you what you enjoy on a burger. Avocado would go will on this one. I added 2 cheese slices, raw sweet onion sliced 1/4" thick, sliced tomatoes and my choice of Salsa was Habanero/ Mango Salsa. I used "El Mexicano" prepared Carne Asado powder however there are recipes on Zaar if you wish to make your own spice powder. For this burger I like a full 6 ozs of meat. Tips:

  • Use high-quality ground beef: The better the quality of the beef, the better the burgers will be. Look for ground beef that is at least 80% lean.
  • Season the beef well: Don't be afraid to season the beef generously with salt, pepper, and other spices. This will help to give the burgers great flavor.
  • Mix the beef gently: Overmixing the beef will make the burgers tough. Mix the beef just until it is combined.
  • Form the burgers gently: Again, don't overwork the beef. Form the burgers into patties that are about 3/4-inch thick.
  • Cook the burgers over medium heat: This will help to prevent the burgers from drying out.
  • Don't overcook the burgers: The burgers are done when they reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Let the burgers rest before serving: This will help the juices to redistribute throughout the burgers.
  • Serve the burgers on your favorite buns with your favorite toppings: Some popular toppings include cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and onion.

Conclusion:

Carne asada burgers are a delicious and easy-to-make meal that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a burger that is sure to impress your friends and family. So what are you waiting for? Give this recipe a try today!
