I love this recipe. It is simple and always a crowd pleaser! Make sure to pick up a brown grocery bag in the checkout line when making this! I most often use rice chex, but I am sure over chex flavors would work well too. I made this for my wedding to give out in bags as favors...It was a hit!

1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 dash salt
1/4 cup corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
9 cups Chex cereal
1 cup mixed nuts or 1 cup pecans
1 (12 ounce) bag M&M's

Steps:

  • Microwave butter, brown sugar, salt and corn syrup on high for 4 minutes. Add 1/4 t. of baking soda.
  • In brown bag, shake together Chex mix and nuts. Pour hot mixture over cereal and nuts. Microwave in brown bag for 1 and 1/2 minutes on high. Shake mixture and microwave 1 minute more. Pour out and let cool. Once cool, add M&M's.

14 oz kraft caramels
6 c rice chex cereal
1-2 c pecan halves
1/4 c water

Steps:

  • 1. Measure cereal and pecans prior to melting caramels. Spray cookie sheet with Pam. Set oven to 300 degrees. Have foil/waxpaper ready
  • 2. Melt caramels and water over low heat, in a large pan, until completely melted and smooth.
  • 3. Remove from heat and gently stir in cereal/pecans. Mixture will not be completely covered at this time.
  • 4. Pour onto cookie sheet,spread out,and put in oven for 15 minutes.
  • 5. Remove from oven and stir gently to distribute caramel more. Put back in oven for 10 more minutes.
  • 6. Remove from oven and pour onto foil/waxpaper and spread out. Cool about 10 minutes and break into pieces. Store in airtight container.

½ cup butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
½ cup light corn syrup
1 teaspoon baking powder

4 cups crispy rice cereal squares
2 cups pecan halves

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C).
  • Place popcorn in a large pot with 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. Over a low heat, begin to pop the popcorn. Constantly shake the pot to ensure that the popcorn kernels and oil do not burn. Once the popping has slowed, remove the pot from heat.

1 cup white sugar
