Tips:

  • Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature before starting. This will ensure that they mix together smoothly and evenly.
  • Use a high-quality cocoa powder for the best flavor. A good option is a Dutch-process cocoa powder.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing can make the cake tough.
  • Bake the cake in a preheated oven. This will help to prevent it from sinking in the middle.
  • Let the cake cool completely before frosting it. This will help to prevent the frosting from melting.
  • If you don't have a springform pan, you can use a 9x13 inch baking pan. Just be sure to grease and flour the pan before adding the batter.
  • You can store the unfrosted cake at room temperature for up to 3 days. Once frosted, the cake should be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
