1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 generous cup buttermilk
8 apple bananas, peeled and split
Oil, for deep-frying
1 cup granulated sugar, for dredging fritters

Using a fork, place coated bananas in oil and fry for 2 to 4 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oil with tongs and drain on several layers of paper towels. Dredge drained fritters in sugar and serve hot with ice cream and caramel or chocolate sauce.

TWO THUMBS UP BANANA FRITTERS WITH CARAMEL SAUCE

Two Thumbs up Banana Fritters With Caramel Sauce image

After subjecting my partner to several different recipes in search for the perfect one i finally came across this one. The preparation was easy, the batter light, the whole thing was perfect. I used Rice Bran oil for the frying as this is choleserol free and has a high heat point, with no smoking and no smell. I wanted to share this recipe here as i have used many recipes from this site and wanted to put this one back and hopefully will be the first of many.

Tips:

  • Use ripe bananas: Ripeness of bananas enhances the sweetness and flavor of the fritters.
  • Double coat the bananas: First coat in flour mixture, then in batter, and finally in breadcrumbs to ensure even cooking and crispiness.
  • Maintain oil temperature: Use a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to maintain a steady temperature of 350°F (175°C) for even frying.
  • Fry in small batches: Avoid overcrowding the pan, as it can cause the oil temperature to drop and result in soggy fritters.
  • Drain on paper towels: After frying, place the fritters on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Conclusion:

Caramel-covered banana fritters are a delightful treat that combines the sweetness of caramelized sugar, the soft and fluffy texture of banana fritters, and the crunch of breadcrumbs.
