KIDDOS FAVORITE TRAIL MIX

Kiddos Favorite Trail Mix image

Easy, nutritious, keeps for a long time (in a sealed container), easily "tweaked" to fit your personal tastes. A REAL kid-pleaser. Great for bringing snack on your child's turn at preschool/daycare. Although it may be wise to omit the ingredients containing peanuts (when considering a choice for nuts and regarding the peanut butter chips) as the allergy to peanuts is increasingly common and potentially life-threatening. Also great for a cooking activity with small children...wash their hands and let them throw handfulls of the ingredients together.

REINDEER COATED TRAIL MIX

Reindeer Coated Trail Mix image

I saw a similar recipe but it was called Pigeon Poop, and I found one on here that was close. Since the main ingredient and the amounts were drastically different, I didn't think it was fair to rate it with the changes. So I am posting mine and relating it to the holidays. I hope you enjoy it. It does take a long time for the mix to harden, so don't be alarmed. I made it early in the morning and let it sit out all day.

  • Add some sweetness: Dried fruits, chocolate chips, and granola are all great ways to add some sweetness to your trail mix. However, be careful not to add too much, or your trail mix will be too sweet.
  • Add some saltiness: Nuts and seeds are a great way to add some saltiness to your trail mix. They also provide a good source of protein and healthy fats.
  • Add some spice: If you like a little bit of spice, you can add some chili powder, cayenne pepper, or cinnamon to your trail mix. This will give it a little bit of a kick and make it more interesting to eat.
  • Package your trail mix in a resealable bag: This will help to keep your trail mix fresh and prevent it from spilling.
