2-4 tablespoons maple syrup or agave
1 1/2 - 2 1/2 cups (350-470 ml) lime sparkling water* (see notes for substitutions)

Steps:

  • First, let the cantaloupe chunks sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes to defrost some. Then, add them to a blender along with 2 tablespoons of maple syrup and 1 1/2 cups (350 ml) of sparkling water.
  • Pulse the blender until the melon starts to break up some, then blend to form a thick, slushie consistency. Adjust the Maple Syrup to taste, adding more if necessary. ¼ cup orange juice

Tips:

  • Choose ripe cantaloupe and banana: Using ripe fruits will ensure your slush is sweet and flavorful. Look for cantaloupe that is deep orange in color and has a slight give when pressed. Bananas should be yellow with some brown spots.
  • Freeze the cantaloupe and banana ahead of time: This will help to create a thick and slushy texture. Cut the cantaloupe and banana into small pieces and place them in a freezer-safe container for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
  • Use a high-powered blender: A high-powered blender will be able to crush the frozen fruit and ice into a smooth slush. If you don't have a high-powered blender, you can use a regular blender, but you may need to blend the ingredients in batches and/or add more liquid.
  • Add liquid as needed: The amount of liquid you need will depend on the consistency of your frozen fruit and the power of your blender. Start with a small amount of liquid and add more as needed until you reach the desired consistency.
  • Serve immediately: Cantaloupe banana slush is best served immediately after it is made. It will start to melt and lose its slushy texture if it sits for too long.

Conclusion:

Cantaloupe banana slush is a refreshing and healthy treat that is perfect for a hot summer day. It is made with just a few simple ingredients and can be easily customized to your liking. You can add other fruits, such as strawberries or blueberries, or you can add a scoop of yogurt or protein powder for a more filling snack. No matter how you choose to make it, cantaloupe banana slush is a delicious and nutritious way to cool down and enjoy the summer.
