Time 15m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/2 cup walnut halves
1/4 cup sugar
3 cups mixed greens
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/2 cup gorgonzola, crumbled
1 tablespoon raspberry vinaigrette dressing

Steps:

  • Place walnuts and sugar in a skillet over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves into a light brown liquid and coats the walnuts Remove walnuts from skillet, and spread them out on a sheet of aluminum foil to cool.
  • Place in a large salad bowl the mixed greens, cranberries, cheese, vinaigrette.
  • Toss gently; add candied walnuts, and toss again.

Tips:

  • Choose the right walnuts. For this recipe, you'll want to use whole walnut halves or pieces. Avoid using walnuts that are already chopped, as they will not hold their shape as well during the candying process.
  • Toast the walnuts before candying them. This will help to bring out their flavor and make them more crispy.
  • Use a heavy-bottomed saucepan for candying the walnuts. This will help to prevent the sugar from burning.
  • Stir the walnuts constantly while they are candying. This will help to prevent them from sticking together and burning.
  • Let the walnuts cool completely before adding them to the salad. This will help to prevent the salad from becoming too soggy.
  • Use a variety of greens for the salad. Arugula, spinach, and romaine lettuce are all good choices.
  • Add other ingredients to the salad to your liking. Dried cranberries, crumbled bacon, and goat cheese are all good additions.
  • Dress the salad with a light vinaigrette. A simple vinaigrette made with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and Dijon mustard is a good choice.

Conclusion:

Candied walnut and Gorgonzola salad is a delicious and easy-to-make salad that is perfect for any occasion. The combination of sweet, salty, and tangy flavors is sure to please everyone at your table. So next time you're looking for a new salad recipe to try, give this one a try!
