Nutrition Facts : ServingSize 1 Serving

Tips:

  • Use a fine-mesh sieve to sift the dry ingredients together. This will help to ensure that the cake is light and fluffy.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. This will help to incorporate air into the batter, which will also make the cake light and fluffy.
  • Beat the eggs in one at a time. This will help to prevent the cake from curdling.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in three additions, alternating with buttermilk. This will help to prevent the batter from becoming too thick or lumpy.
  • Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9x13 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • While the cake is baking, make the butterscotch sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar, butter, cream, and vanilla extract. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Once the cake is done baking, pour the butterscotch sauce over the top. Allow the cake to cool completely before serving.
