BY THE SEA CASSEROLE

This is another recipe I got out of a cooking for kids cookbook. My daughter likes it b/c it has goldfish crackers in it. I think it is a little bland but being that the recipe is for kids, that's to be expected. You could spice it up if you wanted.

This is a dish my mom made alot when we were growing up. I recently started making it for my husband and he LOVES it; even my 18-month old daughter cleans her plate when I make it.

Categories     Meat

Time 40m

Yield 8-10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

16 ounces shell pasta
1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 (12 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 can cream of mushroom soup
8 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Spray a large casserole dish with cooking spray.
  • (I have a 4 quart casserole dish I use for this.) In a large skillet, brown together ground beef and onion; drain grease and return to pan.
  • Add tomato sauce, mushroom soup, 1/2 cup of the cheese, salt, pepper, and garlic.
  • Simmer uncovered.
  • While meat mixture is simmering, cook the pasta according to package directions.
  • Combine the pasta and the meat mixture together in the casserole dish; mix well.
  • Sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
  • Bake for 20 minutes or until cheese is bubbly.

Tips:

  • Use fresh seafood. Fresh seafood will give your casserole the best flavor. If you can't find fresh seafood, frozen seafood is a good option.
  • Don't overcook the seafood. Seafood cooks quickly, so it's important not to overcook it. Otherwise, it will become tough and chewy.
  • Use a variety of vegetables. This will add color, flavor, and nutrients to your casserole. Some good options include broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, celery, and onions.
  • Use a creamy sauce. A creamy sauce will help to bind the ingredients together and make the casserole more flavorful. You can use a white sauce, a cheese sauce, or a combination of the two.
  • Top the casserole with a breadcrumb topping. This will give the casserole a crispy crust.
  • Bake the casserole until it's bubbly and hot. This usually takes about 30 minutes.

Conclusion:

By the Sea Casserole is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal or a special occasion. With its creamy sauce, tender seafood, and crispy breadcrumb topping, this casserole is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So next time you're looking for a tasty and satisfying seafood dish, give By the Sea Casserole a try.
