1 large egg yolk
2/3 cup finely chopped toasted pecans (about 2 ounces)
Pecan halves, for decorating

Press 1 pecan half into the center of each. Bake cookies, rotating sheets halfway through, until golden brown, 12 to 15 minutes. Let cool completely on sheets on wire racks. Cookies can be stored between layers of parchment in airtight containers at room temperature up to 2 days.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh, high-quality ingredients will make a big difference in the taste of your cookies. Look for unsalted butter, pure vanilla extract, and fresh pecans.
  • Don't overmix the dough: Overmixing the dough will make the cookies tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Chill the dough before baking: Chilling the dough will help the cookies hold their shape and prevent them from spreading too much.
  • Bake the cookies at the right temperature: The cookies should be baked at a moderate temperature (350°F) for 10-12 minutes, or until they are just set. Overbaking will make the cookies dry and crumbly.
  • Let the cookies cool completely before frosting: This will help the frosting set properly and prevent it from becoming runny.

Conclusion:

Buttery pecan rounds are a classic cookie that is perfect for any occasion. They are easy to make and always a hit with friends and family. With their buttery flavor, crunchy pecans, and sweet frosting, these cookies are sure to be a favorite.
