BUTTERSCOTCH APPLE PECAN COBBLER

Butterscotch Apple Pecan Cobbler image

With fall just around the corner, here's a perfect apple dessert. This smells awesome as it bakes in your oven!

Provided by yooper

Categories     Dessert

Time 1h30m

Yield 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 (12 ounce) package nestle toll house NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Butterscotch Flavored Morsels (2 cups)
1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 1/2 lbs tart apples, peeled and diced
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
4 tablespoons butter (1/2 stick)
1 cup pecans, chopped
3/4 cup quick oats or 3/4 cup old fashioned oats, uncooked

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375.
  • In a small bowl, combine butterscotch morsels, brown sugar, flour and cinnamon; set aside.
  • Place apples in a 13x9 inch baking pan-sprinkle morsel mixture over the apples.
  • Bake for 20 minutes.
  • To make the topping, combine the flour and brown sugar; cut in butter with pastry blender or two knives till mixture is crumbly.
  • Stir in pecans and oats.
  • Sprinkle over apple mixture.
  • Bake 30-40 minutes or until apples are tender.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Tips:

  • Choose the right apples. For this recipe, we recommend using a firm, tart apple such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. These apples will hold their shape when baked and provide a nice contrast to the sweet butterscotch filling.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing the batter will result in a tough, dense crisp. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the crisp until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender. This usually takes about 30-35 minutes. If the topping starts to get too brown, cover the crisp with foil.
  • Serve the crisp warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. This will help to balance out the sweetness of the crisp.

Conclusion:

This butterscotch apple pecan crisp is the perfect fall dessert. It's easy to make, absolutely delicious, and can be served warm or cold. The combination of sweet butterscotch, tart apples, and crunchy pecans is sure to please everyone at your table. So next time you're looking for a special treat, give this recipe a try.
