2 teaspoons sugar, divided
1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
3-1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose or 00 flour
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon each dried basil, oregano and marjoram, optional
1/3 cup vegetable or olive oil

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, mix warm water and 1 teaspoon sugar; add yeast and whisk until dissolved. Let stand until bubbles form on surface. In a large bowl, whisk 3 cups flour, salt, remaining 1 teaspoon sugar and, if desired, dried herbs. Make a well in center; add yeast mixture and oil. Stir until smooth. 1 Tbs Olive Oil
1/4 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Active Dry Yeast
2 Cups Bread Flour

  • Dissolve 1 package of Yeast in 1/2 cup plus 2 Tbs of lukewarm water. Add Flour in bowel of electric mixer. Add dissolved yeast,oil,buttermilk,baking soda and salt. Using dough hook mix well at medium -low speed until all ingredients are incorporated, increase speed to high and mix dough for 4-5 minutes. Dust or oil ball and place in a large bowel with plastic wrap. Let rise in a warm place for 1-3 hours. Easy Man's way; Put yeast and sugar in electric bread maker first and then the rest of the ingredients. Put electric bread maker on manual setting and come back in 2-3 hours.
