Tips:

  • Choosing the Right Buttermilk: Opt for fresh buttermilk for optimal flavor and texture. If unavailable, you can make your own by adding 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar to regular milk and letting it sit for 5 minutes.
  • Measuring Flour Accurately: To ensure precise measurements, use a kitchen scale. Alternatively, fluff the flour with a spoon before scooping it into the measuring cup, then level it off with a knife.
  • Don't Overmix the Batter: Overmixing can result in dense, tough muffins. Mix only until the ingredients are well combined, with a few lumps remaining.
  • Muffin Pan Preparation: Grease or line muffin cups with paper liners to prevent sticking. Alternatively, you can use a silicone muffin pan, which doesn't require greasing.
  • Achieving a Golden Brown Top: For a golden brown muffin top, sprinkle a mixture of cinnamon sugar on top before baking.
  • Storing Leftover Muffins: Store leftover muffins in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Alternatively, freeze them for up to 3 months by wrapping them individually in plastic wrap and placing them in a freezer-safe bag.
