1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
30 saltine crackers
6 ounces chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  • On a foil lined jelly roll pan, or another pan with a lip, lay out saltines end to end.
  • Melt together butter and brown sugar.
  • Boil for 3 minutes without stirring.
  • Pour melted mixture over crackers.
  • Bake for 7 minutes.
  • Sprinkle chocolate over crackers while still hot, spreading chocolate as it melts.
  • Top with your choice of toppings, nuts, coconut, candies, etc.
  • Allow to cool completely before breaking into squares.

I make this at Christmas Time every year for my cookie platters that I give away. I've made it with plain graham crackers, chocolate graham crackers, town house and ritz crackers. I prefer the town house or ritz crackers the best as it is just a little bit "less" sweet.

1 (16 ounce) box town house crackers or 1 (16 ounce) box Ritz crackers
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup sugar or 1/2 cup Splenda granular
1 cup pecans or 1 cup walnuts

Steps:

  • Line a large lipped cookie sheet with foil.
  • Place crackers end to end on cookie sheet.
  • Combine other ingredients (except nuts) in saucepan and bring to a boil.
  • Boil for 2 minutes.
  • Pour over crackers.
  • Sprinkle with chopped nuts.

1 cup dark brown sugar
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
¾ cup chopped pecans

  • Line cookie sheet with saltine crackers in single layer.
